When the wife moves out…..do you help?
The wife is going to move out of our house soon into an apartment and take some large and small furniture. We’ll share custody of our kids and I will stay in the house.
Her desires for divorce came somewhat out of the blue and I do feel as I am being divorced against my will.
What do you do when she is moving out?
a. sit back in the lay-z-boy chair that is yours, watch her do some heavy lifting with her friends, attempt to use power tools taking things apart, strap everything onto the minivan like the Beverly Hillbillies truck, think about her carrying the stuff up to her 2nd floor apartment?
b. help her with the heavy lifting, setting up the kids rooms, help with your truck and move stuff into her apartment
Help your kids by helping her. I helped my ex move out because we have 50-50 custody with the kids. I helped move furniture and helped the kids set up their rooms at her condo. It was really the best thing for the kids because it showed them that both parents were still involved with them.
The ex asked why I was helping her. I told her it’s because that’s what the kids need.
If it was just the ex I would have used power tools to cut stuff up so it would fit in her car better. Then I’d sit down with a beer and watch.
