what is with these cars named after eddie bauer and mary K?

you got the eddie bauer ford explorer and the mary k pontiac. I thought they sold clothes and cosmetics. It is quite a leap to move to cars, even as some sort of sponsor. I don’t know how it benefits them.

The Eddie edition is nothing more than another option package.

“Explorer” was the option package for my F-150.
I got plenty of dirty looks when passing the (then) new Explorer model SUVs on the highway.
Apparently they didn’t realize that their new car was re-using an old name.
