Is there a baby carrier available where the baby sits on your back?
i have a baby bjorn and they can only sit on your front…I dont want one with baby on my hip…I tried that whole African thing of tying baby on your back with a big cloth but dont feel safe…I looked at instructions for it on youtube and it is HARD to do! The women make it look so easy and I guess I need someone to show me how in person…but I wondered if there is a commercial carrier i can buy in the UK that goes on your back?

Pop onto the forums here and there should be a slingmeet in your area – a big group of mothers with all types of slings and carriers, front, back and hip, who will show you in person and allow you to try all types of slings.

Which is a forum for selling all kinds of slings and carriers, new and used, in the UK. It’s worth asking the same question as above on that group for more knowledgable answers from women who regularly use all types of carriers.
I use carriers and the ‘african cloth’ method every day and have done all my baby’s life – and he’s a strapping toddler now, running around all over the place. It’s been invaluable to me.
99% of carriers and slings can really only be bought online, which is why going to a slingmeet would be great for you to try out all kinds and get some experienced advice and practise with putting Your Baby on your back. I promise, even if you’re tying them on with a bit of cloth, once you’ve done it a few times it’s easy. A properly tied sling is a safe and comfortable way to transport your baby, soothe your baby, or just get the washing up done – well worth learning for you and your little one!
