How accurate is the Braun ear thermoscan for children temperature?
Hello,
My gradaughter had high fever:104.5F. We took her to emergency care. At Emergency room, the nurse took her temperature from rectum.
My question is:
-How accurate is the Braun ear thermoscan for children temperature?
-If the Braun ear thermoscan is accurate, why the hospital doesn’t perform this task by ear?

Surprised ER used rectal thermometer..not comon today except for infants. Temp would probably registered about 103.5 if taken in ear and doc/nurse would know to adjust for a rectal reading. When talking to doctor about temperatures, it’s important to tell how temp was taken. Hope this helps and hope grand-daughter is OK now.
