What is the best nappy option for newborns – disposables? Or reusable with liners?
i’m not sure how disposables are so much cleaner. if you read the fine print on boxes, you are supposed to dispose of the poop in the toilet before pitching it in the trash as human waste is not allowed in landfills. so how is that any different than using a cloth diaper?
i use cloth. we use bumgenius and haute pockets. i have about 10 of them. when my daughter dirties one, we take the diaper and throw it in a pail of water (with a lid) we have sitting in the bathroom. when all diapers are dirty, we empty the water and throw the diapers in the wash. we let them sit in the fresh laundry water for an hour with 1 cup baking soda. after an hour, we just run them through the normal cycle. no staining and no odors afterwards. i guess washing every night or every other night may seem like a hassle, but you are doing something good for the environment, Your Baby (cloth diapers have no chlorine in them as opposed to disposables, which do), and it’s more budget friendly for you. they are expensive initially, but after you buy them, you will have to spend nothing else on diapers.
