what insect bites you and puts a bag of black stuff into your back?

My mom was bitten over a year ago and just a week ago a bump started growing on her back the size of orange. She went to hospital last night and they cut it open and found a Sack of Tar Black stuff. They said they had no idea what it was but if it would of gotten mixed with her blood she could of died. Also they said to search google but I couldn’t find anything on it. Thanks in advance.

I doubt the doctor said ‘google it’.
